App Developer Sydney
What you are actually buying, the questions worth asking, and what it costs
Hiring a Developer Is a Different Decision to Choosing a Feature List
Most pages that rank for this search sell you an app. This one is about the choice in front of you, because that is the harder part. An app is not a one-off purchase; it is a piece of software that has to keep compiling against build tools Apple and Google change every year. Who you hire decides what happens in year two, not just what ships in week ten.
Awesome Apps builds iOS and Android apps for Australian businesses from a single React Native codebase, which means one build cycle rather than two, and one maintenance bill rather than two. We are based in Sydney’s north-west and work with clients across the metro area.
Five Questions Worth Asking Any Sydney App Developer
Who owns the code?
Ask for the answer in writing before you sign. If the repository sits in the agency’s account and you cannot take it elsewhere, the quote is not the price. Ours transfers to you.
What happens when the build breaks?
Apple ships new build tools every year and a stricter compiler can stop a build that worked for years. Ask who fixes that, how fast, and at what rate. It is the most predictable cost in the whole engagement and the one most quotes omit.
Native or cross-platform, and why?
Cross-platform is usually right for a business app and usually wrong for a graphics-heavy game. A developer who answers this the same way for every client is answering from habit.
Who submits to the stores?
Store review is where timelines slip. Ask whether submission, rejections and the privacy declarations are included or billed separately.
What does year two cost?
Budget 15 to 20 per cent of the build cost per year for platform updates, dependency changes and security patches. A developer who has no figure has not thought about it.
Can I see something live?
Screenshots are cheap. Ask for an app you can download today from the App Store or Google Play, and open it.
What It Costs
Our published tiers start at $18,000 for a Starter build, $22,000 for Business and $45,000 for Enterprise. The range is wide because the number of screens, the integrations and the compliance obligations move it, not because the quote is negotiable theatre. A typical build runs eight to fourteen weeks.
Many clients start with a Starter MVP to validate the idea and expand from there, which is why we design MVPs to be extendable from day one rather than rebuilt. The pricing page sets out what sits in each tier, and the cost calculator gives you a figure for your own feature list.
How the Engagement Runs
1. Scope
We write down what the app does and, more usefully, what it does not do in version one.
2. Design
Screens and flows you can click through before any production code exists.
3. Build
Fortnightly builds on your device, so the first time you see it is not the last week.
4. Submit
We handle store submission, the privacy and data-deletion declarations, and any review rejections.
5. Maintain
Scheduled builds catch a broken toolchain before a deadline does, rather than after.
6. Extend
Version two is planned against what real usage showed, not against the original wish list.

Send the problem rather than the feature list. We will tell you the tier it lands in and what we would cut from version one.
